Funny Weather
Was in shorts at the weekend. Today, it was cold, and there was a huge Hail Storm in Cambridge around midday. Went for a walk around the Botanic Gardens afterwards.
Had a very quick whiz around Fowlmere at dusk, late enough for one of the Barn Owls to be out of the box and flying around. Managed three Snipe, a Lapwing, and 37 Teal.

Song Thrush
This Song Thrush wakes me every morning at first light. A bit annoying, but I like Song Thrushes so…
A very brief walk around Fowlmere produced a pair of Shoveler (and this Linnet)…

Fowlmere
A very quick walk around at dusk with Michelle. No birds, but good views of a Weasel and a Bank Vole.

Amwell
Just under a couple of hours in the sun produced: A Red Kite; nine Buzzards in the air together, including one that looked to have some Red-tailed Kite genes in it (perhaps an offspring of the bird that was occasionally seen over Easneye Woods many years ago; seven Little Egrets.

First Migrant
A singing Chiffchaff was seen during a quick lunchtime walk in the sun around Fowlmere. Seen, but not as well as this Heron…

Little Egret, Cambridge
A Little Egret flew high over the centre of Cambridge late afternoon. Quite a site flying past the Catholic Church and over Parker’s Piece. It also passed over the Botanic Gardens, so I’m adding it to the list! I was also there earlier in the day for a stroll and a look at the more usual species.

Shepreth L-moor
A walk around at dusk produced a flock of twelve Yellowhammers, and the first Snipe seen there for several years.
